Cupping (Simple or Cut)

When do we need them?

Cupping is an excellent detoxification method. With a tradition dating back to ancient times, both in Greece and even more so in China, as well as worldwide, its effectiveness is demonstrated by its persistence through millennia. They are primarily known for treating colds, as we commonly say.

However, they are widely used for colds, various pathological issues, respiratory problems, and other diseases such as autoimmune conditions for detoxification. They are also used for intense muscle tension, chills (especially hot cupping with fire), for athletes to develop muscles and remove lactic acid after training. They are also used for edema, swelling, fluid retention, lymphatic issues, and of course, cellulite.

Overall, cupping is used wherever massage is used, but it also enhances its results.

Simple or Cut?

Simple Cupping involves either moving the cups along the skin (sliding cupping) or leaving them in place on the body.

Cut Cupping involves making small incisions on specific acupuncture points at the end of the session to achieve greater detoxification. A single-use tool is used to lightly scratch the skin, and then the cup is placed to suction out the “dirty” blood, as it’s commonly called. The blood that comes out is often very dark due to stagnation and has a mucous-like consistency, almost resembling a leech! Personally, I apply cut cupping on specific acupuncture points and not on too many areas.

When do we use simple and when do we use cut cupping? First of all, always in consultation with you, so when you request it. We usually use simple cupping, which is for widespread use. We recommend cut cupping for intense pathological issues, when we see severe toxicity in the body that needs to be expelled, and of course, with your doctor’s approval. Often, people who are particularly concerned with body detoxification, as well as athletes, request and choose cut cupping themselves.
