Wise is my Body

WISE IS MY BODY.

With this, I feel my needs. Touch is a need.
I feel my body. I feel the bodies of the recipients I touch during a treatment.

I notice that when my thoughts and my mind rule, my head hurts, I get a migraine and dizziness. I notice that when I become anxious, I cannot breathe. I notice that when feelings are trapped, unexpressed and hidden from myself, my body changes according to those feelings: it swells or shrinks, empties, muscles harden, nervous tissues contract, the body becomes hypersensitive or numb and becomes ill, depending on the circumstances.

While I touch and feel other bodies, while I feel my own body, a sense arises of something deeper that precedes muscular pain. I sense an inner force directed toward the muscle that is tense, as if it is trying to come outwards. The overall feeling I get then is that something wants to express itself, to get out, and is trapped as unexpressed and hidden inside the body. That is how I feel the muscles begin to hurt. Sometimes I wonder whether nerve irritation from emotions and their changes comes first and then affects the muscles, or the opposite — whether muscle tension comes first and in turn presses on the nerves.

In Western sciences I learned that the autonomic nervous system controls the smooth muscles, which move the organs that directly affect our body. But how exactly do our thoughts and emotions directly disturb calm within our body? For example, as soon as we are upset and anxious, our abdominal area tightens. If I get angry, I flush, I get warm and my pulse rises. Answers about how our mental state communicates directly with the body are given to me by Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). What I know, you ask me about in sessions and I answer.

For myself, I feel that something exists before the disease appears — an inner force that is hidden and wants to express itself. What I can do is feel, pay attention and listen to my body, which speaks to me. My body has material limits as a body and sets limits on thoughts. At the body’s boundaries I receive sensory stimuli and through them I reduce my thinking and begin to feel. Through my senses I feel and hear my body. I feel if it hurts, if it heats up, if it gets cold, if it is hungry, if it shivers, if it is moved emotionally. Through my senses my inner force, my soul that wants to express itself, speaks. My body has wisdom and I want to listen to it. I want to listen to myself.

By listening to and feeling my body, I hear and feel myself and my needs. At Iasis Spa Filio Moutafi we feel our bodies. You need to receive treatments in order for hard muscles to soften and for me to find relief. We feel your body and respond to your needs. Because… Touch is a need.
